Greenpeace was created in 1971 by a group of activists who were protesting U.S. nuclear testing off the coast of Alaska.  Since then, Greenpeace has been dedicated to making the world a better place by protecting the planet and all living creatures.  Greenpeace has also expanded from a handful of activists to offices in over 30 countries worldwide.  Some of the organization's victories include the banning of commercial whaling and bringing the dangers of nuclear testing to the world’s attention.

A castrophe as large as the Bhopal Gas Disaster sparked Greenpeace to take action.  Over the years, Greenpeace has hounded the officials of Union Carbide Corporation and now Dow to take responsibility for their actions.  Warren Anderson has also been targeted for his negligence since he was the CEO of UCC at the time.

Some of the many actions taken by Greenpeace have included protests, tracking and visiting Warren Anderson, and going so far as to take hazardous materials found at the UCIL plant in Bhopal to Dow headquarters all over the world.  Greenpeace activists were even arrested in November 2002 when they were trying to clean up the Bhopal environment.

Greenpeace has dedicated their effots to making all of the officials in charge at the time of the tragedy step up and face the consequences.  Their number one target has been Warren Anderson, who has yet to come out of hiding.  Greenpeace, along with a British newspaper, tracked down Warren Anderson and served him with the warrant for his arrest from the Indian government.  They have asked the U.S. government to extradite Anderson to India, but the American government has done nothing so far.  Greenpeace poses a critical question, if it only took them a few days to track the former CEO down, how hard has the U.S. and Indian government been trying to make sure justice is served?
